Date of Birth 11/04/79

Expedition Leader

I am a 25 year old husband to an amazing and understanding wife called Katy.  I have been married for 14 months (from 21st February 2004).  I was born and brought up in South London and later in Hampshire.  In the summer of 1997 I completed my A levels at Gordonstoun, whose motto is “plus est en vous” meaning “There is more in you than you think”. I did a degree at Oxford Brookes University, where, as well as gaining a 2:1, I pursued all sports, from 1st XV rugby to Elite 4 Rowing.  I represented Great Britain in 2 international rowing championships, winning two gold medals.  I also boxed for Oxford in the Varsity Match.  After University I organised and executed a sponsored charity run and cycle biathlon, running and bicycling for 24 hours covering a distance of 204 miles, raising £84,000 for The Royal Marsden Hospital Leukaemia Database.  I have always wanted to serve in the army and so I followed this desire and in May 2002 entered the Royal Military Academy Sandhurst, and was duly commissioned into the 1st Battalion Grenadier Guards in April 2003.

I have loved my time as an infantry platoon commander, it is a little like having an extended family, with all the problems of a family too!  It has been enormously rewarding and challenging. I have been kept busy working in the UK and on an operational tour in Bosnia. I am currently training recruits at ATR Pirbright.

When not at work I enjoy spending time sailing, visiting friends and family, doing a bit of DIY and trying to beat my brother at tennis.

A great quote that I found the other day “Fear is the dark room for all negatives” Anon.

Your support would be so much appreciated.
Wish me luck!
